Here is an interesting drawing. It depicts a young Hitler Jugend member around 17 to 18 years of age. Certainly a period piece as the tacks on the back that hold the picture in place confirm. You can clearly see that the fixings are rusty and have never been removed after they were first fixed.
The drawing has been produced on a thick card material and looking closely it appears to have been thickly varnished over. At first I thought this was an oil painting, but on closer examination it does appear that it has been drawn and then sealed with the varnish.
Size to include frame is 270mm x 220mm. The gold wooden frame is in nice condition with only minimum wear. Drawing is signed bottom right “R.S.”
A TR period drawing that is executed in the typical HJ strong pose, artistic quality can be classed as fair.
