This Beret is worn by the Special Air Service.
The SAS is a special forces unit of the British Army. Founded in 1941, the unit undertakes specialist roles including covert reconnaissance, counter terrorism, direct action and hostage rescue. Much of the information and actions in and around the SAS is highly classified and not commented on by the British Government.
This beret is a modern day non-officer private purchase issue but this particular one has never been purchased for active service. Preferred by many members of the UK’s Special Air Service as a replacement for their issued one it is one of the best quality beret available. The Beret comes with the Official SAS Cap Badge sewn on, internal on the celluloid diamond are the MOD issue details – DC2CESL stating this beret was manufactured ready for issue in between 2003 and 2010 .
