Nazi war veterans league peaked cap (Kyffhäuserbund) – this one showing the owner was appointed part of the Deutsche Arbeitsfront (German Labour Front), as it has the Organisational Emblem of the Swastika within a cog-wheel. Dark blue soft wool body with black embroided cap band showing oakleaves – superb quality. The cockade is really unusual, it has a metal oval with a gold wash and the DAF emblem is woven onto what appears a stiff material backing. The entire emblem is undamaged and very nice quality.  Internal of the cap is in excellent shape with the usual dark blue lining free from tears. The leather sweatband is complete and in excellent condition. Stamped on the leather band in small holes are the letters “KK”, I presume these could have been the original owners initials.

NS-RKB (German War Veterans). Formed in WW1 so as to maintain a contact organisation between veterans of “The Great War”. Within this, basic welfare and comradeship were maintained and the veterans were helped in becoming a continuing active part of the German society. Later as the war continued the Kyffhauserbund became an active unit to defend the Reich. They suffered heavy casualties as their general fitness through age were no match for the advancing allied forces

This is a very nice example of an early cap during the Third Reich era and unusual to have the DAF cap badge
