The Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler was formed on 17th March 1933 by Josef Sepp Dietrich on the orders of Adolf Hitler. Hitler wanted a full-time armed body guard that were completely loyal to him. The LAH became responsible for guarding him, his offices and residences. It began as a regiment and later grew into an elite division sized unit.
This is a very rare post war veterans stick pin that would have been worn on the lapel or tie at veterans gatherings. Certainly these have been reproduced but the crisp quality of the insignia is always missing – this is a 100% genuine pin that would have been manufactured in the late 40s. Pin itself has a knurled edge for secure fixing and marked on the back Ges. Gesch.
Incredibly rare to find one of these that is not a reproduction.
