Nice condition Nazi Red Cross Handbook – titled “Amtliches Unterrichtsbuch uber Erlte Hilfe – translated to “Official Textbook on First Aid”.
The book contains many diagrams with thin tracing paper sheets that fit on top of the original drawing so as to locate the various organs, blood vessels and bones structures. All sheets are intact with a little age discolouring.
The books author is Dr Richard Krueger – SS Standartenfuhrer, its not been possible for me to find any information on him. There is a forward internal of the book by Ernst-Robert Grawitz at the time an SS Brigadefuhrer.
Grawitz was born in Charlottenburg, in the western part of Berlin, Germany. As Reichsarzt SS und Polizei (Reich Physician SS and Police), Grawitz was head of the German Red Cross. Grawitz was instrumental in many terrible Nazi programs to include experimentation on inmates in Nazi concentration camps and the horrific Action T4 “euthanasia” programme on the mentally ill and physically handicapped. Those SS doctors wishing to be involved had to apply to Grawitz, who forwarded requests to Reichsführer-SS Heinrich Himmler who then gave final approval.
Towards the end of World War II in Europe, Grawitz was a physician in Adolf Hitler‘s Führerbunker. When he heard that other officials were leaving Berlin in order to escape the advancing Soviet Red Army, Grawitz petitioned Hitler to allow him to leave Berlin; his request was denied. As the Soviet Army advanced on Berlin, Grawitz killed himself and his family with grenades at their house in Babelsberg.
I have never seen one of these books before, condition is near perfect for an 80+ year old book.
