The Gallipoli Star is military decoration awarded by the Ottoman Empire and instituted by Sultan Mehmed V on 1 March 1915 for gallantry in battle.

The decoration was awarded to Ottoman and other Central Powers troops, primarily in Ottoman areas of engagement. It wasn’t a campaign medal, but a medal for military merit.

The decoration is the only Ottoman one which not awarded by authority of the Sultan, but rather was authorized by Enver Pasha, the Commander-in-Chief of the Ottoman military. The German-Turkish relationship was strengthened after the agreement of a military alliance between Germany and the Ottoman Empire in August 1914.

This example is in superb condition with all enamel in 100% perfect condition. This is an officer issue with maker BB & C0 and comes with a small section of period ribbon again in very nice condition.

A beautiful award and often seen worn on German officers (both Wehrmacht and SS) before and during WW2 indicating their service in WW1.
