In 1957 the West German Government authorised the manufacture and allowed purchase by WW2 German Veterans of all forms of awards, one being this fantastic high quality example of the German Cross in Gold. The central swastika was replaced by an Oak Leaf Cluster. The awards were manufactured to the same dimensions and highest quality standards. The 57 issues were official authorised awards.

The German Cross, was instituted by Adolf Hitler on 28 September 1941. The gold version was for repeated acts of bravery or military leadership.

This German Cross I would say is manufactured in the 70s and is of the highest quality. The case again is in excellent shape with no scuffing. The black velvet base of the case is perfect, the white silk to the inside of the lid is completely stain free and undamaged.
A beautiful presentation piece of this historic award!
