Waffen SS Wall Tapestry – Reproduction
Huge Tapestry – Size is 60×50 inches. The colours are still vibrant and quality is excellent with very few loose threads. Weight is estimated at 4 kilos and certainly machine made onto a nice quality backing.
The wording translates as “Eternal are the dead indeed” – “Ewig ist der Toten Tatenruhm”.
Its a magnificent tapestry, but there are others I have seen out there in the last 5 years which of course leads me to be certain these are post war. Design has SS runes, to include the Nordic symbol for life and SS skulls. There is an outline of an Iron Cross in each corner. Machine embroidered cotton construction with fringe. Very fine condition. An excellent display piece as a back drop for an SS collection.
If this was an SS tapestry from the Third Reich period it would be many thousands, sold as a certain reproduction it is cheap considering the very high quality construction.
