This is an early model Hitler Youth Dagger/Knife. Its certainly been used over the years and does show a little wear. The blade is marked RZM M7/56 – maker C.D. Schaaff, a very rare maker to find and this knife can be dated to 1938 production. Unfortunately there is pitting to the blade and a couple of small chips that have been caused no doubts from field work by its original owner. The Blut und Ehre motto is visible although the etching is faded. The leather washer between blade and handle is present and in good condition. The grip does have a single crack but this has been period repaired as the brownish glue can be seen under an eye glass. The HJ diamond is unmarked and has the perfect slight movement for a period piece. The scabbard is free of dents and most of the original paint is still present. The leather fixing strap is in good condition and the popper has a good strong closure.
A good honest example of a used HJ Service Knife by a very rare maker.
