This small badge was worn by the personnel responsible for the training and handling of the Rottweiler Dog Breed in Germany in the mid-1920s through to the early 1930s. The various German clubs joined together to form the “General German Rottweiler Club” which became official in 1924 as approved at the district courts in Stuttgart.
The breed were originally used for herding of live-stock, but due to their strength and obedience they were employed by the German Imperial and following Third Reich Police Forces.
A very rare badge, maker marked Mayer m Wilhelm Stuttgart – which fits perfectly with the “General German Rottweiler Club”. The enamel is beautiful and the Rottweiler Head profile is of very high quality.
