This eagle is stunning and a very rare piece indeed. It is made from pressed brass and the relief quality is just superb, wingspan is 590mm, so a large piece. War-Den found this in the South of France and it is 100% authentic to the Third Reich era.
These eagles were produced to hang in local NSDAP Political Offices in the occupied countries under German rule between 1938 to 1944. War-Den has seen one other which had small wire hooks soldered to the back so it could be easily hung on a wall. This eagle has no fixing hooks or wires so I presume it was never wall mounted but possibly issued as a spare or factory stored.
A very high quality display piece, totally undamaged. It would clean to perfection if any new owner wished to do so. A rare item.
