Very nice high quality K98 Bayonet. Wooden grips are in perfect condition with no movement at all where they attach to the blade tang. The blade is superbly blued with very high quality finish and very sharp. Blade is marked near the handle “Carl Eickhorn”, on the other side it is marked “4080K”. Scabbard is in sound condition with no dents or cracks, marked at the top “Carl Eickhorn 1937” – War-Den believes the bayonet and scabbard are a pair and have been together since original manufacture. The “4080K” identification code on the bayonet blade is a rare mark and believed to be from 1937 manufacture.
Original frog is missing and the present canvas frog is of typical WW2 British manufacture. This bayonets history has been lost in time but possibly carried by a British soldier after requiring the bayonet and scabbard.
A very fine example with rare identification code.
